Because athletes are so hard-up for action...

Deborah Turbiville, of Houston, TX, was arrested today on prostitution charges. She was referred to by Houston police Sgt. Mark Kitty as, "The Heidi Fleiss of Houston." What does that have to do with sports?

Well, Turbiville's "escort service" catered to more upscale clientele than you might see down in one of the Wards. After all, Houston is one of the largest cities in America, with a skyline littered with Fortune 500 companies and professional sports teams.

The reported 1,500 men on the client list were generally men who are involved with such organizations. After all, they have needs and surely you don't expect them to have sex with their wives?

Their wives are busy keeping the house ready for the Essence photo shoot that might not ever come, raising the kids, or fighting alcoholism. They simply don't have the time to do that and be flexible and ever ready for circus sex, too.

Lucky for them that Turbiville's was there for these poor, suffering, doctors, lawyers, big time businessmen, professional athletes...generally, the kind of people who don't really need to solicit a hooker.

I'll never understand it. Did we learn nothing from the Gold Club? At this stage of the game, I've learned to expect that if a brothel or "escort service" or "men's erotic pleasure palace" is shut down by police, look for the name of your favorite athlete or elected official to be in the mix. I'm already making my "scandal list."
